Because the ROICue tool works the way described on its own page — it divides the net gain by the cost for a simple ROI, and for CAGR it takes the ratio of final to initial value to the power of one over the number of years, which is the growth rate that would produce the same end value by compounding — a wrong answer almost always traces back to one assumption, an input that does not fit the model, or a rounding edge case.
